1. Who We Are

Kathya ("Kathya," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Rakesh Mulchandani, an individual based in India, operating Kathya as a sole proprietor at this time. Kathya provides an AI-powered, Hindi-first toolkit for creators, including text translation, script generation, subtitle translation, AI avatar video generation, AI scene video generation, and short-form video editing tools, available at kathya.ai and its associated subdomains (together, the "Service").

This Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Service, why we collect it, how it's used and shared, and what rights you have over it.

2. What Data We Collect

Depending on which parts of the Service you use, we may collect:

Account and access information

• When you create an account by signing in with Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID, and profile picture from Google

Content you submit for processing

• Text you enter or upload for translation, subtitling, or script generation (including uploaded .txt, .docx, .pdf, and .srt files)
• Scripts and prompts you write for AI video generation

Sensitive content — voice and photos

This is the category we want to be most upfront about, since it's more sensitive than ordinary text:

• Voice recordings you submit for voice cloning ("My Voices"), including the guided recording you make during setup
• Photographs and short video of your face, if you use "My Avatars" or upload a custom avatar photo
• Any reference photos you upload (e.g. product photos, avatar edit requests)

We only use this voice and photo data to generate the specific outputs you request (a cloned voice, an avatar video, an edited avatar image). We do not use it to identify you outside the Service, and we do not sell it.

Generated content

• The videos, translations, scripts, and images the Service produces on your behalf, which we store temporarily so you can access, re-download, or edit them (see Section 5 on retention).

Usage and technical data

• Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and general usage patterns (which features you use, how often), for security and to keep the Service running reliably.

Payment information (once payments are enabled)

• We do not directly store your card or payment details — these are handled by our payment processor. We retain records of transactions and credit balances associated with your account.

3. How and Why We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Actually provide the feature you requested — translate your text, generate your script, clone your voice, create your avatar or scene video, and so on
• Maintain your credit balance and process the specific request against it
• Detect and prevent misuse of the Service
• Improve reliability and fix bugs
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service, where relevant

We do not use your uploaded content, voice recordings, or photos to train our own AI models, and we do not use them for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. How Your Data Is Processed — Including by Third Parties

To provide these features, Kathya sends the relevant content (text, voice, or photos, depending on the feature) to third-party AI service providers that specialize in translation, text generation, voice synthesis and cloning, and image/video generation. We do not display these providers' names within the product itself, but in the interest of transparency, this Policy discloses the categories of processing involved:

• A translation AI service, for converting text between English and Hindi
• A large language model service, for script generation and content refinement
• A voice synthesis and cloning service, for generating spoken audio and cloned voices from your recordings
• An image and video generation service, for creating avatar and scene videos
• A speech-to-text service, for subtitle generation and short-clip transcription

Each of these providers processes your data solely to generate the output you requested, under their own data processing terms. If you'd like more specific information about a particular provider for a particular feature, you can contact us at the email in Section 9.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, for any purpose.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Generated videos are stored on our servers for either 14 days or until the 30 most recent videos are exceeded (whichever comes first), after which older videos are automatically deleted.
• Cloned voices and saved avatars ("My Voices," "My Avatars") are stored until you delete them yourself, or until you close your account.
• Translation history and generated scripts are not retained beyond what's needed to display the result to you in that session, unless you've saved them.
• Account and credit balance data is retained for as long as your account is active.

You can request earlier deletion of any of the above at any time (see Section 7).

6. Your Consent

For voice cloning specifically, we require you to actively check a consent confirmation before we process your recording — this is a deliberate, explicit step, not a general "by using this site" assumption. You can withdraw this consent and delete a cloned voice at any time from within the Service.

For all other processing, your consent is given by choosing to submit content to a specific feature (e.g., pasting text into the translator, uploading a photo to create an avatar).

7. Your Rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act and general good practice, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data, including cloned voices, saved avatars, and generated content
• Withdraw consent for future processing at any time (this doesn't affect processing already completed)
• Lodge a grievance with us directly, and escalate to the relevant data protection authority if unresolved

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address in Section 9. We'll respond within a reasonable time frame, and in any case within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
